These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Sarangsho mobile application, the website www.sarangsho.com and all related services (together, "Sarangsho" or the "Service"). In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Terse Narrative Ltd., and "you" means the person using the Service.
By downloading, accessing or using Sarangsho, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which together form a binding agreement between you and Terse Narrative Ltd. If you do not agree with any part of them, please stop using the Service.
1. What Sarangsho Is
Sarangsho is a news aggregator. We monitor a large number of Bangladeshi and international news sources and present the day's most significant reporting as short summaries, so that a reader can follow the news quickly and in one place.
Alongside the news feed, Sarangsho offers:
- Current Affairs, a daily curated record of nationally and internationally significant events, prepared for readers who follow public affairs closely and for candidates preparing for competitive examinations.
- Editorial analysis, our own analytical commentary on editorials and opinion pieces published in the national press.
- Chronology, an organised timeline of developing events.
- Exams, practice questions built on our current affairs material.
- Books and other products, including Sarangsho Shampotik, which can be ordered from within the app or the website.
Some of this material is free. Some of it requires a paid plan, as described in Section 4.
2. Accounts and Eligibility
You do not need an account to read our summarised news. An account is required to save articles, to use personalised features, to purchase a premium plan and to place an order for a product.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Sarangsho. By using the Service you confirm that you are 13 or older, or that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian where the law requires it.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for everything that happens under your account. Accounts are personal. Sharing your login with others, or allowing others to use your paid access, is a breach of these Terms.
3. How You May Use Sarangsho
You may read, save and share our content for your own personal, non-commercial use.
You agree not to:
- Copy, republish, resell, syndicate or commercially exploit our summaries, current affairs material, editorial analysis, questions or any other content without our written permission.
- Scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-extract content from the app or the website by automated means.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to derive the source code of the app.
- Interfere with, overload, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable law of Bangladesh or of the country you are using it from.
4. Premium Plans and Payments
Premium features are sold as prepaid plans for a fixed period. Access begins as soon as payment is confirmed and ends when the paid period expires.
- There is no auto-renewal. We do not hold a standing instruction against your card or mobile wallet, and nothing is deducted automatically. To continue after expiry, you renew the plan yourself.
- Prices are shown in Bangladeshi Taka and include any applicable charges stated at the time of purchase. We may revise prices at any time, but a change never affects a plan you have already paid for.
- Payments are processed through the official gateways of licensed banks and mobile financial service providers. We do not store your card or wallet credentials on our systems.
- All payments are final. Purchases cannot be cancelled or refunded. Please read our Refund and Cancellation Policy before you buy.
5. Books and Other Products
Products ordered through Sarangsho are dispatched to the address you provide and delivered by independent third party courier companies.
- An order is confirmed when payment is completed. Confirmed orders cannot be cancelled.
- Delivery charges are set by the courier and are shown to you before you confirm the order.
- Once an order has been handed over to the courier, delivery is governed by that courier's own terms and service standards. We accept no liability for delay, damage or loss occurring after handover, and any such claim must be raised with the courier concerned.
- Where a product carries a QR code granting a discount or in-app access, that benefit is personal to the purchaser and cannot be transferred or exchanged once redeemed.
6. Content, Images and Ownership
6.1 What belongs to us. The Sarangsho name, logo, design and software, together with the summaries, current affairs entries, editorial analysis, chronologies, examination questions and other material prepared by our editorial team and our own systems, are owned by or licensed to Terse Narrative Ltd. They are original works and are protected under the Copyright Act, 2023 of Bangladesh and applicable international law.
6.2 What does not belong to us. Sarangsho is an aggregator, and much of what you see originates elsewhere.
- Copyright and all other rights in the original news reports, editorials and opinion pieces we summarise or analyse, and in the photographs and images displayed alongside them, remain with the original publisher, photographer, news agency or rights holder.
- We claim no ownership of any third party image or original article. What is ours is the summary, the analysis and the arrangement we create.
- Every image is displayed with the name of the source it was obtained from, and each summary links back to the original report so readers can identify and visit the original publisher.
- Images appear in reduced size and only to accompany the reporting of current events. They are never used as standalone artwork, merchandise, print material or paid advertising.
6.3 Trademarks of others. Publisher names, mastheads and logos shown in the app belong to their respective owners and appear only to identify the source of a story. Their presence does not indicate any partnership, sponsorship or endorsement unless we state otherwise.
7. Copyright Complaints and Takedown
We respect the rights of publishers, photographers and news agencies, and we act promptly on any complaint.
If you are a rights holder, or are authorised to act for one, and believe that material on Sarangsho infringes your rights, write to [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright Complaint", including:
- Your name, organisation and contact details.
- Identification of the work concerned, for example the original article link or the photograph in question.
- A link to, or screenshot of, the item as it appears on Sarangsho.
- A statement that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act on the rights holder's behalf.
On receiving a complete complaint we will acknowledge it within 2 working days and, while we review it, remove or disable access to the item concerned, ordinarily within 5 working days of acknowledgement.
A rights holder may at any time ask us to stop displaying their images, or to stop aggregating their content altogether, and we will comply.
8. Advertisements, Sponsored Content and External Links
Sarangsho may carry advertisements or sponsored content. These are marked as sponsored or as advertising and may come from third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for the accuracy of any claim made in third party promotion.
The Service also links to external websites. We are not responsible for their availability, content or practices, and you visit them at your own risk.
9. Editorial Discretion and Content Removal
We may remove, modify or withhold any content on Sarangsho at our discretion and without prior notice. This includes material that has been deleted by the original publisher, material we consider outdated or inaccurate, and material raising legal, editorial or policy concerns.
We reserve the right to act on our own initiative or in response to a request in order to maintain the quality, legality and relevance of what we present.
10. Disclaimers
Sarangsho provides information for general purposes. While we take care in curating and summarising, we do not warrant that any content is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose. You use the Service at your own risk.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Terse Narrative Ltd., its directors, employees and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, opportunity, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
12. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Sarangsho at our discretion, without prior notice, where you breach these Terms or misuse the Service. This includes fraud, payment abuse, sharing account credentials, unauthorised copying or distribution of our content, and abusive conduct towards our team or other users.
No refund is payable for any plan or order terminated on these grounds.
You may stop using Sarangsho at any time and may ask us to close your account.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where a change is material we will notify you through the app or by email. Continuing to use Sarangsho after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, without regard to conflict of law principles.
If a dispute arises, both parties agree to attempt to resolve it amicably through good faith discussion in the first instance. Failing that, the dispute shall be settled by binding arbitration under the Arbitration Act, 2001, seated in Dhaka. The arbitration may be conducted in Bengali or English.
These Terms apply to every user of Sarangsho regardless of nationality, location or place of residence.
